12:00pm-1:30pm

Turkey and the US are facing a major crisis in the bilateral relationship. The Trump administration has taken punitive measures against Turkey, imposing tariffs on Turkish goods in addition to sanctioning two Turkish government ministers and demanding the immediate release of the American pastor Andrew Brunson. Turkey has reciprocated with its own sanctions against American products, vowing not to allow the US to dictate the Turkish judicial process. Additionally, Congress has raised questions about Turkey’s ties with Russia and its role in the F-35 program following the passage of the US FY2019 National Defense Authorization Act. As the decades-old strategic partnership has been severely strained, observers are asking whether the relationship is at a risk of complete breakdown.

Please join the SETA Foundation at Washington DC for a panel discussion on the current state of US-Turkey relations and the impact of the tariffs and sanctions on the strategic future of the alliance.
