Turkish Foreign Minister His Excellency Hakan Fidan visited Washington DC to hold meetings as part of the Strategic Mechanism between the US and Türkiye. His visit comes soon after the two NATO allies reached an agreement on the F-16 sale following Turkish ratification of Sweden’s NATO membership. As Türkiye focuses on the ongoing Israeli operations in Gaza and the establishment of a Palestinian state, emanating risks continue to pose a serious threat to regional stability. It is also a time of unprecedented instability as well as dynamism in Türkiye’s neighborhood from Ukraine to Iraq and Egypt to Iran.
As the SETA Foundation at Washington DC, we hosted a Private Roundtable with His Excellency Hakan Fidan to discuss Türkiye’s strategic outlook, his conversations with his US counterpart, and Turkish diplomatic efforts in the context of Palestine and beyond.
