The Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA) at Washington, D.C. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, independent, nonpartisan think tank based in Washington, D.C. dedicated to innovative studies on national, regional, and international issues concerning Turkey and US-Turkey relations.
At the domestic level, we conduct academic and policy-oriented research on Turkish society, culture, history, economy, politics, energy security, law and education. At the global level, we address the implications of Turkey’s new and shifting partnerships in its region and in the world. We strive to play a unique role by building creative linkages between policy-makers, academics, and the general public. We focus on the increasingly critical role of Turkey in the international community, specifically the US-Turkey strategic partnership and Turkey’s complex regional partnerships.
As a research and policy recommending institution, the SETA Foundation provides a forum for international dialogue to bring together different perspectives with international scholarly standards, and contributes to the formation of a common ground. Through its academic journal Insight Turkey, policy reports, policy briefs, research publications, international workshops, and conferences, our organization aims to inform decision-making mechanisms in Turkey and seeks to guide leaders in government, civil society, media, and business.
Adopting an interdisciplinary approach, the SETA Foundation takes into account the growing interdependence of political, economic, and socio-cultural issues at the national, regional, and international levels. We seek to generate in-depth analyses and knowledge conducive to a social vision based on peace, justice, equality, and the rule of law.
