Trump’s Gaza Plan and Regional Reactions
While the first phase of a fragile ceasefire appears to be holding, the international community has failed to end Israel’s war in Gaza. President Trump’s controversial proposal involving the displacement of Palestinians and a potential American “takeover” of Gaza has ignited intense debate. Some argue that the administration is signaling real intent while others see it as a negotiation tactic to get regional powers to step up with alternatives.
How would regional powers like Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye react if the United States and Israel pursue displacement? How do the Palestinians, both in Gaza and the broader Palestinian political leadership, view this proposal? What are the prospects of achieving lasting peace in Gaza given Washington’s plan and regional dynamics?
The SETA Foundation at Washington DC is pleased to convene a distinguished panel of experts to examine these pressing questions and discuss U.S. policy on Israel and Palestine.
