Kadir Ustun joined The Communications Directorate’s 4th Stratcom Summit in Istanbul

Kadir Ustun moderated the panel discussion titled, “AI’s Impact on Journalism: Balancing Accuracy, Objectivity, and the Threat of Deepfakes” at the International Strategic Communication Summit 2024.

The annual summit was organized and hosted by The Directorate of Communications of the Turkish Presidency in Istanbul. The event’s theme this year was “A.I. in Communication: Trends, Traps and Transition.”

The panel discussion focused on the opportunities and challenges of A.I. for journalism and what strategies could be employed to train and educate journalists as well as audiences. Particular attention was given to evaluating communication strategies to address the threats posed by deepfake technology. Panelists underlined the importance of increasing media literacy among audiences and the staying power of the human aspect even if A.I. is set to deeply impact all aspects of journalism in general.
