SETA D.C. Hosts H.E. President Erdogan for Roundtable Discussion
On September 19, 2016, the SETA Foundation at Washington D.C. hosted a private roundtable dinner with His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in New York City on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Attendees included current and former diplomats, leading scholars and thought influencers from various U.S. based think tanks, academics, and notable journalists.
President Erdogan spoke extensively during the dinner about his vision for the future of Turkish regional foreign policy. The discussion centered on Turkey’s pivotal role in the ongoing civil war in Syria, including conversation about the President’s outlook on Turkey’s military operations in northern Syria. The President also addressed questions about the failed coup attempt of July 15, in addition to questions about Turkey’s role in hosting nearly 3 million Syrian refugees and the status of the EU-Turkey refugee agreement.
